Defrosting the chest freezer

The chest freezer should be defrosted once or twice a year, or when the ice layer thickness reaches 5-10mm.

The defrost procedure should be complete within 2 hours.

Always make sure that you switch off the electric supply to your chest freezer before you start any maintenance.

Warning: Do not use detergents, soaps or abrasive products to clean the chest freezer.

Caution:
Never use sharp objects to scrape off ice, as this may damage the chest freezer.

1.

Unplug the chest freezer from the mains.

2.

Open the door.

3.

Remove any food from the chest freezer.

4. Remove the basket.

5. Remove the Internal drain cap.

6. Place a container under the drain hole cap to catch the water as the chest freezer defrosts.

7. Remove the drain hole cap.

8. Use the provided ice scraper or a similar tool to remove the ice layer.

Leave the chest freezer door open to defrost.

To speed up the defrosting you can place containers of lukewarm water in the chest freezer compartment.

Ventilate the room thoroughly to speed up the process.

11.

When the chest freezer if fully defrosted, wipe down the base, sides and top of the compartments to remove any excess water.

12. replace the Internal drain cap.

Clean, then replace the basket.

14. Replace the Drain hole cap.

15. Plug the chest freezer into the mains and switch on.

16. Turn the thermostat knob to the maximum setting.

17. Replace the frozen food.

18. Close the door.
