  • If the fridge freezer is not going to be used for a long period of time, such as a long holiday. Defrost and clean the fridge freezer.

    Always make sure that you switch off the electric supply to your fridge freezer before you start any maintenance.

    Unplug the fridge freezer from the mains.

  • 2.

    Open the fridge and freezer door.

  • 3.

    Remove any food from the fridge and freezer.

  • 4.

    Remove the racks, shelves and drawers.

  • 5.

    Leave the fridge and freezer doors open to defrost.

    To speed up the defrosting you can place containers of lukewarm water in the freezer compartment.

  • 6.

    Ventilate the room thoroughly to speed up the process.

    Caution: Never use sharp objects to scrape off ice, as this may damage the fridge freezer.
  • 7.

    Leave the fridge freezer to defrost for at least 24 hours.

  • 8.

    When the fridge freezer if fully defrosted, wipe down the base, sides and top of the compartments to remove any excess water.

  • 9.

    Clean the racks, shelves and salad drawer.

    Replace the racks, shelves and drawers.

  • 11.

    Leave the fridge and freezer doors open to prevent any odours or mildew forming inside.
