Defrosting the fridge freezer

Always make sure that you switch off the electric supply to your fridge freezer before you start any maintenance.
Warning: Do not use Thinner, Car detergent, Clorox, Etherol oil, Abrasive cleaners, or Organic Solvent such as Benzene for cleaning. They may damage the surface of the fridge freezer and may cause fire.
Caution: Never use sharp objects to scrape off ice, as this may damage the fridge freezer.
Unplug the fridge freezer from the mains.
- 2. Open the fridge and freezer door.
Remove any food from the fridge and freezer.Note: When emptying the freezer, place the food in another freezer or in a cool place where it not thaw out.
Remove the racks, shelves and drawers.
Leave the fridge and freezer doors open to defrost.
To speed up the defrost you can place containers of lukewarm water in the freezer compartment.
Ventilate the room thoroughly to speed up the process.
If possible leave the fridge freezer to defrost for at least 24 hours.
When the fridge freezer if fully defrosted, wipe down the base, sides and top of the compartments to remove any excess water.

Replace the racks, shelves and drawers.
- 11. Close the fridge and freezer doors.
Plug the fridge freezer into the mains and switch on.
Let the fridge freezer run for at least 2 hours on a colder setting before adding the food.For more information, see the Adjust the temperature settings topic.
